Music is a profound influence in Isabella’s life; she is passionate about sharing her love for music and exploring the emotional connections it evokes within both the performer and audience.
Isabella began playing the cello at the age of 4 and is currently at the Royal Northern College of Music and is privileged to be studying with Hannah Roberts. Before attending RNCM, she studied with Richard May.
Performing is an exhilarating experience for Isabella. She has performed recitals for the Budleigh Music Festival, the first aged 11, and the second in 2022. She has also performed a solo recital for the Dart Music Festival, featuring unaccompanied cello repertoire. In 2019, she was a winner of the Two Moors festival, which has provided her with additional solo performance opportunities. Isabella has enjoyed participating in Encore Music Projects International Summer School, which has provided extra experience in solo, chamber ensemble & orchestral music.
Isabella loves exploring different tones and colours of the cello, and curating timbres to encapsulate the nuances of different repertoires, from the subtle complexities within Bach to the passion of Shostakovich and cynical humour of Prokofiev. Isabella also enjoys performing as part of chamber ensembles and regularly plays with piano trios and string quartets.
Inspiring and sharing her musical perspective through teaching the cello and music theory is important to her.
Whilst studying A Levels (Music, Physics & Biology) she gained her ATCL, LTCL & FTCL cello diplomas. She is also a pianist and self-taught on fretless bass guitar, which she has played in jazz ensembles. Isabella is excited to be currently exploring this genre on the cello through improvisation-based work. Cross-genre playing is another aspect Isabella feels strongly about and enjoys collaborations that explore this.
She is passionate about creating music that is accessible to a diverse audience.
